Research OS
The last research system you'll need to set up.
PARA architecture, pre-configured.
Every folder has a purpose. Every template is placed where it belongs. The structure mirrors how research actually grows: projects emerge, literature compounds, ideas connect. Nothing is forced. Everything flows.
Projects
Active and archived research projects
Areas
Methods, domains, and ongoing interests
Resources
Literature, references, and collected material
Archive
Completed work, kept accessible
Templates organise. They do not deepen.
You have tried the templates. The Notion student dashboards. The Obsidian starter vaults. The colour-coded folder systems.
They organise your information. They do not deepen your understanding.
You still read papers without retaining the argument. You still start systems and abandon them. You still feel that your notes are everywhere and nowhere.
The problem is not organisation. The problem is that your tools are designed to extract your attention, not cultivate your capability.
Built on a protocol, not a marketplace.
Respectful Mediation
Research OS does not notify, interrupt, or addict. It creates a space for thinking. When you open it, you think. When you close it, it waits.
Structured Cultivation
The Paper Reading template trains critical reading. The Weekly Review cultivates reflection. The system deepens your understanding through use.
Natural Harmony
The structure mirrors how research actually grows: projects emerge, literature compounds, ideas connect. Nothing is forced. Everything flows.

Built for serious thinkers
The Graduate Student
Managing papers, coursework, thesis notes, and advisor meetings. You need a knowledge base that deepens over time, not just organises.
"I know these tools are powerful but I don't have time to build the system."
The Serious Undergraduate
Final-year or honours student with a thesis component. First real exposure to long-form research. Notes scattered across apps, folders, and memory.
"My notes are everywhere and nowhere."
The Independent Researcher
Self-directed learner, writer, or analyst with no institutional support. You need a system that persists beyond motivation cycles.
"I start systems but never maintain them."
Not a template. A system.

Common questions
Can I use this on mobile?
Research OS is designed for desktop. Obsidian mobile is supported but the experience is optimised for larger screens.
Can I collaborate with others?
This version is designed for individual use. Collaborative features are on the roadmap for Advanced tier.
Can I sync across devices?
Yes, using Obsidian Sync, iCloud, Dropbox, or Git. Research OS does not include sync — you provide your own.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything is stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to Human Engine Labs or any third party.
What if I already have notes in another app?
Migration guides are included for Notion, Evernote, Roam, and Apple Notes.
Will there be updates?
Yes. All v1.x updates are included at no additional cost.
Why is this more expensive than other templates?
Research OS is not a template. It is a complete system rooted in a research protocol. Every design decision is intentional. And it is supported by a research institute, not a solo creator.
Join the protocol.
Research OS is the first step. When you purchase, you are not just buying a system. You are joining a protocol for building tools that cultivate human capability.
